Although it looks like a religion (or at least a cult), a career in medicine is not a spiritual practice.

Medicine is a reason to develop a spiritual practice: learn to define success; tolerate disappointment; gain gratitude for your important role in people’s lives.
PS Don’t get all stuck in yer pigeon hole defining “spiritual practice.” Join kinship with crows. Read books by survivors. Write your #ThreeGoodThings list every night. Go on a walk. Count 10 breaths as slow as you can. Sing in the church choir. Do a good deed.
Reach out to one friend a day. Make one apology every day. Pick up a piece of trash on the sidewalk. Squeeze your kid’ foot. Invite your dog on the bed. Decline an invitation for a fight. Spend a day stone sober. Drop a 5er on the ground for someone else to pick up.
