So, here's a thing about the value of civility and trying not to "inspire more hatred".

Any of resistance against Trump is going to cause him to ramp up his rhetoric. Turn the propaganda knob up higher. The more we fight, the more dangerous he becomes.

We've still got to fight.
All the things he wants to do to this country, he's going to do anyway. He's not going to do them because we're mean to him, he's going to do them because he wants to.

And we can either give him our permission, or we can fight him.
When we fight him, he gets nastier about it, sooner.

And we have to deal with that.

But there's nothing to be gained by timidity. Timidity tells him (and the moderate middle) that he has permission, that it's normal, that it's okay.

That's hard to change later.
