1) This is a photo of Issac Espinoza, a murdered San Francisco Police Officer.
Espinoza was killed by a gang member with an AK-47 rifle during the performance of his official duties as a San Francisco Police Officer.

I was in the treatment room with Espinoza when he died. Image
I saw the damage to his body from a bullet that ran the width of his body.

Kamala Harris, the newly elected District Attorney of SF County, faced this as her first major case.
Harris honored her campaign promise to NEVER seek the death penalty on any capital case;
3) If EVER a defendant begged for a needle, it was Espinoza’s killer, David Hill.

Harris also told her senior Assistant DAs to be cautious “When filing assault charges on those who fight with/strike Police Officers...That’s what they get paid for”

Thread: Another black man was killed by police yesterday in Atlanta. The reaction was immediate. The police chief resigned, and the officer who shot the man was fired. All of this makes perfect sense in our upside-down world.
The black man was passed out drunk, parked in the drive-thru lane at a Wendys. So, the Wendys called the police. When the police came, they work the man up and talked to him. Apparently he was uncooperative, because shortly after, he got into an altercation with the police.
The police tried to put handcuffs on him, but he resisted. So, one officer drew his Taser in an attempt to restrain the subject. The man then grabbed the Taser and struggled with the officer, making it impossible to deploy the Taser. Eventually, he struggled to his feet.

Black individuals in the United States have endured events in our everyday life without an audience or validation of our experiences. Now, these incidents have become displayed vividly across our cellphones, computer screens, and televisions.

a thread
The experiences that have historically been dismissed by the White community as overreactions have now been documented and we have the receipts. To be Black in this country is to be a second-class citizen.
No matter the education, income level, or location, our skin color dictates our experience. And we cannot take it anymore. The loss of life at the hands of police presents a public health emergency that requires decisive and concrete action.

Thread: #GeorgeFloyd murals in the US & around the world (Barron's)
“This wall is part of a large mural that’s on the other side that has a picture of Martin Luther King facing Malcom X, trying to show the struggle, the social struggle & racial struggle that’s been happening for so long"-- artist Octavio Logo (KNWA Fayettville).
Syrian artists Aziz Asmar & Anis Hamdoun painted their #GeorgeFloyd mural “to call for peace and love.” Asmar said Floyd’s death “by suffocation” reminded him of Syrian civilians “killed by suffocation after the Syrian regime hit them with chemical weapons" (Fox5DC).

Firstly, what sparked me to write everything down and start a thread, was the creepy clip of 'paramedics' taking (dragging) the body away...

It's a particularly gruesome part of the video... just a heads up #patriots

Several things already wrong with this...
- No CPR or attempt of FA
- Doesn't check for pulse, ever
- Make-up the gurney street-side
- Put a sheet on the floor w/out ever checking patient
- He wipes something off his head and rubs it between his fingers (but there's no blood?)

FBI investiga o caso.

Something that bummed me out this morning: I see #AmyCooper's name across my timeline and trending (for good reason) but had to search and click into several articles before seeing #GeorgeFloyd's name and not just "a black man killed by police".
Even with his name, there are so many names that even when we #SayHisName it feels drowned out. I can't even begin to understand how that fatigue/trauma feels to a black person. I have a lot more in common with Amy Cooper yet feel discouraged as to what I can do in all of this.
I know many of my (white) peers outside Twitter won't know this happened or worse have the apathy and (un)conscious bias that create Amy Cooper's in the first place. I want to know #GeorgeFloyd's name but moreso I want to know how to change myself and my fellow Amy's and Karen's

.@CBP is responsible for a fifth child’s death while in their custody at the Southern border.

This is the fifth child who’s lost their life in recent months.

@CBP We’re in El Paso right now where we have met countless families who were dropped at the local bus station.

The children we spoke too are in critical need of medical attention.

The sounds echoing through the bus station are babies with deep, hacking coughs.
One mom we met from Guatemala has a 5 day old baby. We met her sitting on the floor at the bus station.

She arrived here 20 days ago, spent time in a detention center and delivered a baby shortly after being released.

She’s in desperate need of postpartum care.

1/ On 02.10.19, a 911-call was made, reporting a black man fell asleep in his car & blocked a Taco Bell's drive through. Six polices showed up, w/ guns in hands & minutes later, estimated over 25 rounds were shot & killed the black man. #LetUsLive #AB392…
2/ . The body-cam finally is released to reveal that the 6 officers was not trying figure out how wake this black man up, how to get his attention, but rather, get ready to “snatch his ass [out of the car]”, & “If he reaches for it, you know what to do”. Basically, shoot him!
3/ Full disclosure, a gun was sitting on this black’s man lap. But does that mean illegal? No. And if this man was asleep, worrying about him grabbing it before the six police officers who already have guns in their hands in ready position is reasonable? Probably not!

We offer condolences to #AltonSterling 's loved ones on the anniversary of his death. A father of five, Alton Sterling was killed two years ago.
The officer who fatally shot Mr. Sterling was fired in March, after 20 months of paid leave. The other officer received a 3-day suspension. These were the first consequences of any kind they faced; officials failed to bring criminal charges against them.…
The footage of Mr. Sterling’s death makes painfully clear the numerous ways that the officers needlessly ended a man’s life. At LDF, we work every day to reform police departments across the country and honor #AltonSterling's memory. #SayHisName
