The reason we need people who know something about guns to be involved in writing legislation is on display in that pic. That is a BOLT ACTION rifle chambered in .22lr. It is not a “military” rifle in ANY way. Pretty sure no military uses .22 or for anything.
The fact that it is BOLT ACTION means you shoot one bullet and you need to reload the chamber manually. This is accomplished by manually pulling the action back and pushing it forward again, pushing a round from the magazine into the chamber.
So when everytown says “we need to get rid of guns like this” they are actually arguing to outlaw guns generally. So when pro 2A people say “you’re trying to dismantle the 2A” and everytown says “no, we’re not” 2A people perceive that as a lie. BECAUSE IT IS.
If you’re gonna engage in an honest and productive debate you must have two things.
An understanding of the subject at hand.
A good faith argument.
People who want guns outlawed or further regulated have neither. Every. Single. Time.
