Do not try to out-bible an apostate #exvangelical. Not only were we trained in scripture from babyhood, we walked away from it because we studied it more thoroughly than you. In several languages. With historical context.
And when you meet an ex-cult member ex-fundamentalist who happens to still be a Christian, remember: they pulled out of extreme brainwashing using the very Bible you're trying to use against them. They've questioned their biases more than you can count. You can't win this.
When someone says "I'm an atheist now because of the Bible" they're telling you don't bother. They might be trying to save you time and energy. There's nothing about the Bible or Christianity that you can tell them that they don't already know.
I was born into a cult, my parents left it when I was 15, jumped deeper into fundamentalism, I started to walk away from that at 18, went liberal Christian for 10 years, then agnostic while connecting to my pagan ancestry. The Bible did that. All of it. You can't win this.
Regardless of where we are now, the #exvangelical knows their Bible. Every nuance, every argument, every "ology". We can debate premil vs postmil from both sides. We know the original Greek of the NT. We are #exvangelical BECAUSE of this.
I laugh when I'm told yet again by a Fundy, "if you really understood the Bible"... haha no. If YOU really understood your Bible, however.....
Ask and it shall be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened unto you. Some of us believed that and acted on it. Now I know why that was frowned upon in Fundy circles.
