Although I appreciate Vivy and Fadza's attempts to straighten things out, their statements still show that they don't really understand why it is that people were upset in the first place....sad.
First off, saying it was taken out of context is simply untrue, it's just that people weren't upset with the other parts of the article. She's pregnant yay Alhamdulillah for her! Why would people wanna be mad about that tho 🤷🏽‍♀️
People did focus on a certain part of the article because that particular part was problematic and somewhat ignorant, so obviously people are going to call it out.
Yes, she did mention later on that she understands now that's she's going through a more difficult time with this pregnancy. The fact that it takes her experiencing it herself to understand how some women have it worse.....that's shows lack of empathy.
In the end she basically says you have to make the effort to TRY which I guess I can somewhat agree with, but then again some women do try very hard but physically are unable to do anything about their conditions. That doesn't mean they're not trying.
She ends with this, which in my opinion completely contradicts what she said earlier on. If different women have different pregnancy experiences how can you expect the same behavior between all women?? 🤦🏻‍♀️
Also, those words are pretty harsh in my opinion. If you were a woman who PHYSICALLY CANNOT get out of bed during pregnancy reading this how would you feel? Would it feel nice to hear someone say you are the reason people don't hire pregnant women or that you're "weak"?
Also about the privellage thing and talking about how hard she works and how she built her company from the group up etc. Good on her! Nobody is discrediting her hard work or her success.
but the privilege people are talking about Isn't referring to wealth but rather the commodities she has access to. Not every pregnant woman has the best access to healthcare or a personal assistant to help out or a driver when you're too tired to drive etc.
So people are pointing out that due to the life she lives, maybe there is a point of view she isn't really looking at. That doesn't make her a bad person, but there definitely things she didn't take into consideration when writing this.
with that being said, I will always admire Vivy for her accomplishments as a business woman and as a writer. However, everyone does have their flaws and I wish people would start recognizing them instead of putting people up on a pedestal & defending their every mistake.
Vivy Yusof is not a perfect woman.. because the perfect woman does not exist. Stop making excuses for people because you refuse to believe that your idols have imperfections just like you do.
thats al from me folks, stay tuned for more of my thoughts on things or don't idk whatever you wanna do
