“Courage” has about as much relevance to that Williamson doorknob as “silenced.” Here’s silencing: The pressure on the Atlantic was driven entirely by prominent women, and the only people Williamson cites by name are two fellow white men.
It’s not “brave” to spend your entire life behind your desk farting out takes specifically intended to hurt marginalized people’s feelings, particularly not if you then screech about being victimized if their response takes the form of imposing consequences for your actions.
Williamson isn’t a Twittermob case study. He’s a moron who forgot that some of the groups & people he’s trolling also have platforms - some bigger than his! - and could expose him. He didn’t get victimized, he just forgot we could fucking talk.
