Some quick thoughts about Universal Fan Con, Wicomicon, and visibility.
If you're one of the people who is still pissed, and likely rightfully so, about everything that went down with Universal Fan Con and the continuing fall out, good.

You should be.
And if you've noticed, a lot of entertainment news sites that weren't covering Fan Con before it's death suddenly have lots to say about it.
They're riding the wave of attention on the mess.

And if you get swept up in their coverage, you're only contributing to their click-bait.
I can guarantee you that Gizmodo, Polygon, The Hollywood Reporter and any other news site that has published anything about UFC post-cancellation didn't give a hot fuck abut the people or the event before that.
What's worse is that even fewer are celebrating Wicomicon, which ended up saving the weekend for A LOT of attendees who couldn't get out of financial commitments they placed for UFC.
Please don't let these outlets take advantage of you for clicks.

SPECIFICALLY;

PLEASE DON'T LET WHITE PRODUCERS AND WRITERS RIDE YOUR GRIEF.
And as for Jamie Broadnax.

Do not let her become the sole person to lose their livelihood behind UFC.
I don't know her.
I've never worked for her or Black Girl Nerds.
But y'all destroyed any credibility she had.
And I can't say she doesn't deserve some of that

But she doesn't deserve ALL of it.
I hope to see more pieces in the coming days about @WICOMICON2018 and the people who put it together;

@theblerdgurl
@TheNerdsofColor
@BHMatter
@CarbonFibreMe
@TheNRW

@Polygon since you're quick with clickbait, talk to these folk who turned #FanCon lemons into lemonade.
Y'all were quick to cover Universal Fan Con's demise, so how about to highlighting the groups/people who helped salvage the weekend for a lot of fan con attendees.
One last thing.

Don't be afraid to challenge the bigger cons.
Seriously, whether we admit or not, we all find our way to the big ones (SDCC, NYCC, C2E2, DragonCon, etc)
Ask them how many POC they have in leadership positions.
Push for more diverse panels instead of diversity panels.
Demand that they consider their disabled attendees when they craft these showrooms.
