Drug Deaths in America Are Rising Faster Than Ever nyti.ms/2sGyPwK via @UpshotNYT

If you read what I write below, you'll find out that, while these deaths are certainly horrible, they do not constitute an "OPIOID CRISIS".
Top 10 causes for death in US (medicalnewstoday,com) heart disease--614,348--23.8%; cancer--591,699-22.5; chronic lower respiratory disease--147,101-5.6%; accidents--136,053-5.1%; stroke--133,033-5.1%; Alzheimer's--93,541-3.6; TBC......
diabetes--76,488--2.9%; influenza and pneumonia 55,227--2.1%; kidney disease 48,146--1.86; suicide 1.6% (oops, didn't get #).

This article states that in '16, I think, there were 55-65,000 deaths from opiates. Influenza +, is listed 55,227, and is #8. TBC......
Number 7 is diabetes numbering 76,488. So, in the top ten leading causes of death in the US is the "OPIOID CRISIS". It appears to me that heart disease is more of a crisis than opiate deaths. Why don't we have a "HEART DISEASE CRISIS", a "CANCER CRISIS" TBC....
IDK, but I do know the "OPIOID CRISIS" is something they've manufactured to scare everyone. And their "solutions" are killing veterans and civilians who need opiates for pain and to be able to live as a productive a life as possible, some of us TBC.....
are even able to continue. Their answer to the "OC" is to scare doctors so badly that they won't prescribe to us, pharmacists won't fill our 'scripts, and worse, they are making doctors decrease a working dose to a dose that doesn't help, or...
completely take our medication, a lot of times not tapering it properly, causing withdrawal symptoms, or simply stopping it, and offering no kind of withdrawal assistance. While chronic pain pts., CPP, are not addicted to the opiates we take, our bodies get used to them....
the same as antidepressants (some of them can be addicting, BTW) the medication I take for my benign tremor, blood thinners like warfarin, and seizure medication. That does not indicate addiction, however.
Opiate deaths are counted thusly. When the blood work comes back and there is an opiate present, then it is an opiate overdose. It doesn't matter if there is heroin or tainted fentanyl on board, or the person had severe heart disease and probably had a heart attack....
So, quite frankly, the number of OPIATE deaths is just flat out wrong. However, the deaths from the treatment CPPs are receiving to stop the non-existing "OC" is steadily rising. People have such severe pain when their opiates are taken away...
that they would rather die than live in unbearable, horrible pain. If only these people could take a walk in some of our shoes. Veterans have even gone into waiting rooms in VA hospitals and shot themselves bc they couldn't live w/o their pain meds.....
but nobody cares. Something this article doesn't mention, I don't think, I'm exhausted, and memory isn't the best, but opiate prescriptions have decreased, yet deaths from drugs have increased. Realistically, how can the increase in drug deaths be d/t CPPs? It can't....
This article mentions fentanyl. It fails to mention that this is NOT the fentanyl that CPPs use. The fentanyl that is used on the street is mainly tainted fentanyl brought in from China. Crack and meth use is increasing, along with the heroin and tainted fentanyl....
None of those drugs are used for pain treatment. Yet, again, the "OC" is our fault. How is it a crisis, and how is it our fault? Another item not mentioned in that paper, but is always used against us is that long term opiate use is ineffective......
I've been in pain for 44 years. It finally got to the point that I was "eating" acetaminophen and OTC NSAIDS. I was dx with fibro and sent to a rheumatologist, but that didn't help a lot. Went to a pain clinic that didn't use opiates--they weren't even in my mind yet, because....
the pain didn't get terrible until after I left, when the pain was terrible. I've always lifted with my legs, it's a habit. That's pertinent. I would have such awful headaches I almost couldn't function, but I worked anyway. My arms and rt shoulder hurt so badly....
my legs and knees hurt so badly that I had to crawl up the stairs. When I went to a doctor that I thought would help me, they threw me 30 darvocet every now and then, like throwing bones to a dog. I was a drug seeker. I was "known" to that office. I finally got...
an appt with a pain clinic. By then I think I had quit my nsg job and had gone to a big box store. I was customer service. I figured I'd try something easier. Everytime I'd bend my knees to get something, it felt like someone was sticking broad swords in...
them. Occasionally I cried out so loudly, guests were worried about me. I couldn't work, I couldn't sleep, I was in constant agony and death seemed like a good friend, except for my family. When I got to the pain clinic, he not only believed me, but gave me a.....
where are the rest of my tweets? They're here somewhere!
'script for something to tide me over 'til my next appt. I eventually developed an allergy to NSAIDS. I've been on an opiate for roughly 15 y. Now I can climb short groups of stairs, the headaches are way better, only one knee hurts and I finally know why, and I.....
I give up. My tweets have run away! I don't blame them. Sorry for the rambling. The tweets are all over the place. When I was writing them, they were sequential. HAVE mercy!
