I've actually spent the last couple of months low-key lurking/studying incel internet communities due to morbid curiosity. I'm going to start with a common glossary of terms:
Incel: "involuntary celibate"--a male who cannot get laid usually due to looks
Normie: Overarching term to describe anyone not an incel, breaks down into some of the following categories used more specifically...
Chad: The jock alpha male that all girls flock to (different tiers of Chad as well, such as Gigachad and Chadlite)
Stacy: The hot cheerleader girl that will never fuck you
Numale: a male that is not Chad-tier but still gets laid, typically seen as beta or cuck to chad
Soyboy: a modern millennial 30's male, usually with a beard, peculiarly always shown posing in photos with his mouth open, loves Nintendo Switch, and is cuck to Chad and Tyrone
Tyrone: A racist caricature of a black alpha male that fucks Stacy frequently
Betabux: someone that would otherwise be a Soyboy or a Numale that only gets laid because he has tons of money (Stacy only loves money or Chad's good looks)
Looksmatch: a female (or male) that is equivalent in looks based on a 10-point scale (1-10)
"It's over": common term used to describe the abysmal realization that you'll never get laid
Rope: used as a verb to describe suicide by hanging (to rope)
Personality: used as a synonym for good looks, because they believe women see good looks as synonymous with good personality
There are different subcategories of "-cels" as well, which are generally racist, and broken down into things like "blackcel" (black incel), "ricecel" (Asian incel), "currycel" (Indian incel), etc. It goes on like that.
Incels generally are quite self-deprecating, using the internet communities to reinforce negative views about not only women and normies, but themselves as well. It's a typically common post type in these communities to say a statement and follow with the question "should I rope"
"Just came back from the store, a girl literally screamed when she saw my fat face, should I rope?" (usually with a photo of a rope)
Common replies would be something like "it's over, rope now"
There's some strange intersections between alt-right white supremacist internet culture and incels, leading to a lot of casual racism as well. They subscribe to a lot of the same eugenics ideas as the Nazis, commonly defining people by genetic superiority or inferiority.
For instance, I saw a post yesterday lamenting the idea of an east Asian family immigrating to the US with a male son, who is now "cucked" in the US where they believe Asian males are undesirable (compared to white Chad).
The issue with incels isn't so much that they are sad boys that can't figure out social norms, but rather the amount of real hate and vitriol that is casually reinforced by these communities. They actually laud the Toronto attacker as a martyr of sorts.
The problem of the socially awkward male failing at romance is as old as time, but what is new about these people is the extent to which they have found each other online and delve deeper into their own self-pity rather than trying to improve themselves.
Furthermore, they openly hate women, as they see them essentially as the root of all evil. If women appreciated them for their personality instead of their looks, for instance, they would find true love.
A term I forgot to mention above is "roastie," commonly used to describe a woman that has been "used up" by alpha males her whole life (her vagina now resembling roast beef). A roastie will only consider an ugly male after she's sexually explored every flavor of Chad.
They also glorify the idea of the female virgin, preferring one over a "roastie" because they think to sleep with a sexually experienced female is to be "cucked" by another male.
There is some sympathy to be had with the idea of a lonely person unable to find love. There is no sympathy to the open hate, racism and flagrant misogyny of these communities. They spread toxic ideas as memes, making them easy to digest and eventually subscribe to.
If you find yourself one of these people, I can assure you that your best bet to find love is to remove yourself from this toxic circle jerk of pity. There are realities and intricacies to human sexuality, romance, and social interaction that you need to figure out.
You can start by looking at women as people rather than objects of desire.
