Okay @nytimes, the leaking, spin, intentional "errors" & the buried bombshells in your "Crossfire Hurricane" #SpyGate lovefest have made me angry. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry. I'm taking your article apart. HUBER SMASH.

THREAD 1: THE BIG ERRORS
The @nytimes published a huge piece on May 16, detailing the "secret origins of the Trump investigation": nytimes.com/2018/05/16/us/…

I'll be doing three threads on this over the next day or so:

THREAD 1: BIG ERRORS
THREAD 2: "BURIED BOMBSHELLS"
THREAD 3: A LINE-BY-LINE demolition
Oh, and I'm not the first to take this article to task (and probably not the best either), so please check out the people who got there before me:

@MZHemingway: thefederalist.com/2018/05/17/10-… (thx for linking to me in your piece Mollie ❤️)

@AndrewCMcCarthy: nationalreview.com/2018/05/crossf…
Also a special mention to @Shem_Infinite who recently joined Twitter but is already rocking 50+ tweet threads, like this one on the NYT article: . If he's not a Russian bot or a deep state plant maybe give him a follow. Ok, here we go...
ERROR 1: The media didn't publish Steele's info until after the election.

False.

👉Yahoo ran allegations about @carterwpage on Sep 23 (Source: Steele).

👉Mother Jones ran all the core lurid Steele allegations on Oct 31 (Source: Steele; identified as a "Veteran British Spy")
BONUS ROUND: Correct the correction bombshell

This first big error was so egregious the NYT had to issue a same day correction. Unfortunately it NEEDS A CORRECTION: it doesn't mention the Yahoo News article, which both the media & Hilary Clinton's campaign MOAB hyped to millions
BONUS ROUND: "Trump/Putin Love"

The NYT fails to mention that even where an article did not explicitly mention Steele's memos, new orgs that were meeting with Steele & Fusion GPS were using themes from his dossier (e.g. "kompromat") in their reporting: newyorker.com/news/news-desk…
BONUS ROUND: "NYT v NYT"

Even the @nytimes Exec Editor Dean Baquet's OWN WORDS refute this revisionist spin that news orgs spiked reporting: mobile.nytimes.com/2017/01/20/pub…

👉 'We wrote everything we knew...anybody that thinks we sat on stuff is outrageous. It's just false"
ERROR 2: @Comey met Trump in private "revealing the Steele reports"

False. Trump was deliberately ONLY briefed on part of the salacious Moscow prostitutes allegation, and even then only PART of it. This has now been admitted by @Comey himself (@BretBaier transcript; Comey book)
ERROR 3: Carter Page "had previously been RECRUITED by Russian spies" (this is used twice)

False. Russian SVR agents had tried to recruit Page, failed, called him "an idiot", and Page spoke to the FBI about the attempt. The SVR agents were arrested and/or expelled from the U.S.
ERROR 4: "Congressional investigators" revealed who the FBI was investigating in Feb '18

False. The names AND number of Trump officials being investigated is classified & REDACTED in the @HouseIntelComm report, plus both the @DevinNunes and @RepAdamSchiff memos, NOT “revealed”
BONUS ROUND: "Leak for me, not for thee"

So this is yet another felony leak of classified info. @DevinNunes has PROTECTED this info in his reports for months. When convenient to attack him, it is leaked to the @nytimes. FBI/DOJ and @RepAdamSchiff would have access & motive!
ERROR 5: FBI Agent Strzok wasn't eager to investigate @realDonaldTrump

The NYT quotes a Strzok text in sentence case. A calm, detached air is implied

The *actual* text says "OMG" and the entire message is in excited ALL CAPS, followed by another making his feelings clear
ERROR 6: FBI Agent Strzok quoted saying "I'm not worried about our [FBI] side" leaking

Totally misleading as the deliberately truncated actual text says “FIRST TIME IN A WHILE I’m not worried about our side” (emphasis added). All one sentence, . Strzok later worries about leaks!
BONUS ROUND: Emoji psychology!

If the @nytimes weren't too busy printing Fusion GPS and DOJ propaganda, they might have also thought to check the emoji Strzok used in that text. He may even have meant it sarcastically - i.e. he was WORRIED about FBI leaks the entire time!
OK, that's just the major @nytimes ERRORS that all deserve prominent corrections. This says nothing about emphasis and placement of information & in the line by line review I'll show at least another dozen or so issues

Next up, THREAD 2: BURIED BOMBSHELLS...stay tuned....
