A quick note about severe narcissists like Trump:

1) Think EVERYTHING is about them

2) See other people as all good or all bad

When an enemy refuses to give a narc something, the narc compulsively thinks:

“That person is bad, so the thing they won’t give me must be good.”

The narcissist assumes the thing they can’t have must be really valuable - or the enemy wouldn’t keep it from them.

Narcissists truly can’t process that sometimes the other person’s reasons have nothing to do with them...

2/

They also can’t process that sometimes the withheld thing would make them unhappy if they got it.

Anyone who has ever been through a custody dispute with a narc can tell ya abt this phenomenon.

“If ya won’t give me custody, I want it even more - even though I really don’t.”

We’re seeing this phenomenon play out right now with Trump and the FBI/DOJ.

Trump compulsively assumes any info they won’t give him MUST be valuable and helpful to him... and is only being held back to hurt him.

Trump truly cannot process that the info the FBI is holding back might actually HURT him.

He is incapable of processing that the FBI might just be shielding a witness’ identity - because that reason doesn’t revolve around Trump.

It HAS to be about him. Who else exists?

I’ve watched this kind of thing play out a thousand times in my own interactions with a narc.

They compulsively fixate on getting whatever enemies don’t want them to have - and they entirely ignore warnings that they won’t like the results if they “win”.

Then, when the narc gets their way, they instantly dislike the results...

...and since that can’t possibly be their own fault, they then blame the people around them - as if others were somehow responsible for the narc refusing to listen.

That’s the basic setup for the Trump-DOJ/FBI showdown we’re watching play out.

The info Trump wants will actually be damaging. It will deepen his problems.

In his primitive, toddler mind, anything an enemy won’t give him must be super valuable though.

There is no other track with narcs. They can do nothing but go down these same dysfunctional paths. No self-regulation. No higher order thinking.

Trump truly can’t control his impulses. They control him.

9/

A certainty:

Babyfingers will browbeat the FBI into revealing the info he compulsively wants...

...and then that info will prove hugely damaging to him.

Even then, he won’t get that he brought all of this on himself...

...and then he’ll rage on his inner circle.
