As often happens, a couple of the topics I was tweeting about kinda converge into one larger topic. Here I was talking Cuomo, a right-leaning corporate centrist if there ever was one...
Then heres a tweet about how centrists in Europe & the US are extremely authoritarian, second only to the far right

"Centrism" as we know it really isnt the center of anything, it leans so far to the right it tipped the fuck over. The Clintons, Obama, Democratic leadership. What they are, as neoliberal centrists, is 'moderate' conservatives
Look at Cuomo. While he was Governor many NY Democrats willingly entered into a coalition government w a conservative minority. the conservatives passed their corporate-friendly state budget, then the coalition effectively dissolved in time for Cuomo to run for reelection
Centrism is not some sober, rational worldview, its just a way to pass off RW politics as sober & rational, & most of all, as unavoidable. Much like capitalism itself, we're told there's no alternative as they actively oppose all more egalitarian alternatives.
Opposing the right wing means opposing the center-right. It means recognizing ppl like Macron as the racist imperialists they are, & understanding that we do have an alternative to the right - its called the left
Most ppl who call themselves "liberals" in the US, *especially* pundits & ppl in media, are actually "centrists," center-right to be specific, less reactionary than RW fascists by degrees, but still poor leaders, elitist authoritarians who stand against real progress
That would have sounded cooler if I said they stand athwart progress, but you get the idea. Centrists are not anyone's friend except for the right, who do their level best to present them (ppl like Bill Maher) as radical leftists & their true enemies
This is kayfabe. Go look at Bill Maher's guest list. These ppl are friends. They, centrists & the right, agree w each other on a basic premise & disagree only on specifics, & they make a big show of it, yelling & screaming.
Ask a centrist natsec guy & a RWer about Israel or Venezuela or foreign policy in general & you wont be able to tell them apart, the only difference is the centrist thinks they are the most rational & has moral authority in their reactionary beliefs.
I'd like to append this thread w this weirdo, a good example of what centrism does to your brain

Heres their banner. This is... not how ideology works. There are radicals & moderates on the left & on the right. Reactionary & conservative are the same thing. "Centrism" is not especially moderate, its an assumed name for right-leaning liberalism.
US imperialism is not a moderate position, it is radical & it is also reactionary, its an extreme & violent position that is based in tradition, not reason.
Supporting the CIA or the FBI are not moderate positions. US law enforcement is radical & unprecedented. US 'intelligence' operations are radical, violent, & disregard international laws & norms.
Supporting US law enforcement & incarceration directly, the police, "blue lives," the justice system, the prison system, is normal to centrists, it is also radical, reactionary, white supremacist, *extremely* violent & discriminatory.
"Centrism" is reactionary & conservative, it is not a moderate belief system but radically authoritarian & nationalistic. And it is the belief system most common to Democrats & many self-styled liberals.
