1/ ABA hasn’t been mentioned a lot in the Oireachtas. A few TD’s mentioned it last year in support of behavioural therapists.

How many of the TD’s that raised ABA or behavioural analysis in the Oireachtas actually knew what it was?

2/ @RBoydBarrett on 19 May 2021 raised whether behaviour analysis professionals could secure permanent positions so they may continue “supporting the education in special schools of children with autism”. Image
3/ @ReadaCronin on 5th May 2021 raised a similar question stating that behavioural analysts make “such a critical contribution to special education” Image

In my late 40's, seeing nothing in #NovaScotia for #ActuallyAustistic women, I started a group which has become a program.

The program expanded to the creation of a teen group as well.

Yesterday our teen group did a scavenger hunt in the Camp Hill Cemetery.

I developed the ++
activity. I provided a history, etiquette for while we were there, and the questions of what we were looking for.

One of the graves that I wanted them to find was Viola Desmond.

We did and talked about her activism and reflected on the changes she made.

We found many ++
interesting headstones. Ones made of iron! Ones from the 1800's, Norwegian Merchant Marines, etc.

We had an amazing time!

I made them all giggle when I found this stone and covered the L 🤭

I read somewhere [I wish I could find the source] that #ADHD affects executive function that precludes the ability to see the end-result of a task. Not knowing this makes completing the simplest of tasks both nearly impossible and filled with anxiety. /1
This has been tumbling around in my brain for quite some time. Pair that with attending my younger brother's wedding got me asking the question whether or not this is why I don't really date and remain single at 36 years old. /2
Granted, #COVID19 is a huge factor right now but I usually go years between relationships and I ended my last one pre-pandemic. Part of me feels like there's no point; it seems nearly impossible to find someone around here who has any kind of energy and social consciousness. /3

This tweet has got quite a lot of attention within the #ActuallyAustistic community, and I thus want to expand on it, tweet by tweet as it is educational for the autistic to help themselves a bit when feeling targeted. 1/
One point of note is that virtually *every* peer group that can be called that has these pecking order rituals/games/measures. Not everyone ends up ever being the weakest link, but virtually every peer group will evict one at some point 2/
Can one "escape" from this game of the weakest link? Can one get a "time out" from being targeted? Not really - If you leave the peer you were probably already the weakest or nearly. If you try to take a time out, this will almost certainly make things worse - 3/

It’s annoying hearing people tell us if we dislike Sia’s representation to make our own is so frustrating, besidesnthe fact they are basically only saying that because they want to enjoy our exploitation in peace without the #ActuallyAutistic community speaking out.
The fact of the matter is #ActuallyAutistic people HAVE created their own representation, but nobody pays attention to it, because you trust NTs to tell you about experiences they don’t have than actual ND people.
Also, there aren’t that many #ActuallyAutistic people with big platforms, if any. Nothing the average autistic person puts out will have the same impact as what someone with 3+ million followers, with a shit ton of money.

This tweet alone contradicts itSELF. That's a new feat.

You REHEARSED with an autistic girl - meaning it was written and moving into production. But when that didn't work, you chose to WRITE IT for Maddie. Was it... not... written yet? To be able to rehearse?
Her own subconscious lied on her.

She'd been telling people sporadically for 5yrs she'd been writing a movie for Maddie...even teaching all Stevie's "tics and movements and vocalizations" herSELF.

But last wk it was always "they suggested I use Maddie" "I chose to cast Maddie".
But now she's likely been reading/hearing all the many, many times she said she wrote this for Mads, and her subconscious just snuck that one in there for us.

Btw, Maddie also objected to this role "during rehearsal". Is that when you brought this autistic girl in?

Just some of the manyyyyy inconsistencies in Sia's abysmal story.

*was researching for 3 YEARS*
*somehow never knew Autism $peaks is a hate group*
*turns out she DID know they were horrid awhile ago*

But also, A$ didn't come on-board for 4yrs after the 3yr research began? Wut?
*claims she tried a FEW autistic actors, but some phantom overhead suggested she use Maddie*

*jk they tried one non-verbal autistic girl, she didn't cope well, so Sia herself picked Maddie*
....or was it her autistic friend who found the shoot to be too stressful and overwhelming? The world may never know.
