It’s been about 10 years since I had the pleasure of eating live Alaskan King Crab (steamed) Back then it was ~$60-65/lb CDN so it was still very pricey to share a ~7 lb lobster with a table for 6. But arguably worth it for a special occasion….
Recently got an email from one of my fav seafood restaurants saying it was coming in.. (Only avail for a few weeks or less in a given year) $131/lb! So,that means with tax and tip it’s about $1200 for 1 crab.

Just another antidote that inflation is always grossly understated
To double in 10 years you need a ~7% a year. Bonds are for losers (unless you just swing trade long bonds correctly :)

Guaranteed losers. That’s the game.

I think Sports Bras are up there with Sexism, Gender pay gap, Periods, and Risk of sexual assault, in the list of the worst things about being female 😣

At what point does 'tight enough to stop black eyes and unwanted attention from perverts' become 'too tight and inhibit efficient respiration'? 🤔
... and which should I prioritise??!!

Having been a sausage-maker of news, and in a way still am, I really don’t care to watch the sausage-making of news of NSW public health orders. I’ll just read the one-page summary when it’s posted without having wasted an hour of my life watching arsehats ask arsehat questions.
Also, I’ll avoid the waves of sookage that follow every damn announcement from people who don’t like the rules, or think they know better, or think that anyone gives a flying fuck about what they think. The order has been made, and there it is. Deal with it. #howlintothevoid
Far more efficient: Wait to read the usual short list of new or changed rules. Flip through the new locations list. If any of that changes your plans for the day, make those changes. Get on with your life.

Ever have thematic problems? One year it was water problems. The basement flooded 2x. Then a toilet mysteriously overflowed while we were out & damaged the drywall in the basement. Then the septic alarm went off in the middle of the night & we had to get an emergency service 1/5
Then the outdoor tap froze and cracked and created a huge ice sculpture attached to the side of the house. And the shower leaked and had to be seen by a plumber 3 times before it was resolved. And then the dishwasher hose came unattached... 2/5
Another year it was mice. Mice got into the cottage in the summer. Then mice got into the house just before Xmas (we think they came in from the garage in a box of ornaments). It took ages to be mouse-free. Now our mouser dog inspects anything coming in from the garage. 3/5

A standard tourist visa to the UK is £95. We once paid £361 for a 2 year visa for my wife and the UK gave her a six month visa and kept all the money anyway.

And Turks have to pay to actually leave their own country.

So Tim, mate, this is super #firstworldproblems
Oh yeah and when Turks apply for a visa to the UK (or anywhere), they have to fill in 20 pages of forms which seem to dig into family history, finances, job prospects, every aspect of their private lives.

You just have to pay on arrival and you’re done. $35 is a steal.
By the way, when Turks apply for visas (which they have to for almost every Western country) one of the questions is invariably something like:

“Have you ever had trouble with the police over terrorism, WMDs or speeding?”

If you’ve ever done 133km/ph, you’re royally fucked.

Honestly, what is it with windshield wipers? My vehicle has thrown 2 blades so far this winter. And why are they so complicated to put on? The blade comes with a bunch of incomprehensible pictures and weird bits of plastic. 1/5 #FirstWorldProblems
Instructions? 2/5
There are at least 4 kinds of wiper arm! And mine doesn't look like anything in the photos. Could we not just decide on one and have wiper blades that attach in some sort of intuitive way? #SoFedUp 3/5

"I for one see no redeeming leadership qualities in a commander-in-chief who wants to be both arsonist and firefighter at the same time." - me, on @msnbc today with @katyturnbc, on how Trump started the Iran crisis which he is now ridiculously trying to claim credit for ending:
@MSNBC @KatyTurNBC "There is no strategy, there is no strategy, there is no strategy! Trump does not do strategy. He could not find Iran on a map if his life depended on it, he has not read the Iran nuclear deal... he probably still doesn't know what Hizbollah is" - me trying to be blunt on @msnbc:
@MSNBC @KatyTurNBC On an unrelated note, I have a bad cold. As you can see/hear. :-( #firstworldproblems

Deixei o carro pra concertar hoje.
🚙 🔧

Estimativa inicial: $800 e 3 dias pra reparo do pára-choques.

Morning campers! I’ll be live-tweeting from the European Court of Justice today about @Google’s “Right to be Forgotten” hearing.

What’s the main point? Should Europe (or France’s #privacy regulator) be able to apply its rules over the internet worldwide.

A recap:
La Vanguardia, a Spanish newspaper, published records in the late 1990s detailing the debt delinquencies of Mario Costeja.

About a decade later, Costeja sued, saying that the publication breached his right to privacy.
After a lengthy legal dispute, the case was referred to the ECJ which, in 2014, ruled that individuals had the right to ask that search engines like @Google remove links (but not the underlying webpages) from search results
