Maybe next time I start screaming about this topic in 2005 people won't ignore me until we're at a crisis point in 2018. Extremely vulnerable people are getting tortured and sent to concentration camps for... asking for a safe place to live.

That is to say: It can be stopped now and has to be. There must be oversight, there must be an end to the dehumanization, this cannot be allowed to continue to its horrible, inevitable end. It's no accident that kids are getting "lost."
I've covered conflict situations and mass graves from which people asking for refuge or asylum are fleeing. I've seen the horrible aftermath of widespread dehumanization. This is what innocent people are getting put through when they arrive in the United States. 
And before anyone goes b-b-b-but you're biased! Yep. I am biased in favor of human rights and human dignity and anyone who has known me for any length of time knows I've been saying the same thing for decades. If you're not pro-human rights, that's your problem, not mine.
