BBC news in general is perfectly good. It's based on genuine fact and provides realistic analysis.
But.

BBC Brexit news in particular is junk. It's based on bullshit, it's specious, ignorant and permanently stupid.

The two sides in Brexit, Britain and the European Union, do not agree in even the outline of what's supposed to be happening.

For well over a year Britain and Europe have been talking in direct contradiction to each other.

There shouldn't be a contradiction. You both know what Article 50 says. And yet here we are, stuck.
So, eager little newshound that you are, you ask what the contradiction is about.

The problem is, Britain is refusing to engage with the technical process of dissolving its membership of the European Union.

And now you're puzzled because why would a country initiate a process and then refuse to engage with it?

These are the right questions. So . . .

Obviously we initiated the process with deceitful intent. We refuse to engage because we're trying to turn it into something else.

Okay. We're getting close to understanding it now

Britain and Europe are trying to achieve opposite things.
They are trying to get us to leave, while we keep trying to stay. We're trying to stay on special terms, so both stay and improve our situation.

Well, Europe says you can't use Article 50 to cheat yourself into a superior status within the European Union.
And I think any journalist worth the name would have figured that out at some point in the last two years.

Theresa May seems, by her behaviour, to think that foreigners are stupid. She's asking for something that they could only offer if they were too dumb to understand their own legal order.

Europeans are not stupid. they know perfectly well that Britain's intentions are not compatible with the legal order of the European Union.

So if you refuse to engage with the Article 50 process, and Europe won't allow you to subvert it, you're going to end up stuck. Which is where we are now.

The Tories want to bypass the exit negotiations and get a new treaty in their own favour.
The European Union won't allow that. You can't just demand the law of an entire continent be rewritten at Theresa May's command.

So there are a limited number of things that can happen now.
We can just keep staring at each other till midnight next March when our economy collapses.

Or we can engage with the process we've begun, which will also wreck our economy and break up the country in chaos and recrimination.

And if we want neither of those, we can tell Europe that we've changed our mind and ask if we can stay.

But what we are not going to get is a new and superior treaty to replace what we have just thrown away.

And you can even go one step further and say that the Tories are very likely going to sack Theresa May and abandon the whole idea because they're unable to execute it.

And that's journalism. Information and analysis. The information is in public record, the analysis is mine. In my expert opinion, that's the ending we're most likely to get.

The fartings from Boris Johnson's backside are not news. Public masturbation from far right nationalists is not news. Ignorant gob is not news.

The standard of journalism in this country has dropped right through the floor the last couple of years, and that's what Brexit has done.
