(THREAD) Putin created the Russian Direct Investment Fund in 2011. It set up a tiny cadre of international advisors: one has since loaned Kushner hundreds of millions; one hangs out with Kushner socially; one orchestrated the Rosneft deal Steele's dossier says Trump got a cut of.
/ In January '13, Manafort's boss Oleg Deripaska, RDIF head Kirill Dmitriev, Kushner's (future) biggest lender, a key Kushner pal, and the Kremlin official Carter Page lied about meeting in Moscow in July 2016 were all at the World Economic Forum. One wonders if any of them met.
/ What we *know* is that in the same two-week period in June 2013 the Kremlin sent emissaries to Las Vegas to urge Trump to bring Miss Universe to Moscow (and meet Putin there), one of the RDIF's small cadre of international advisors loaned Kushner *tens of millions of dollars*.
/ What we know is that one of the RDIF's first big investment deals was with the United Arab Emirates, and that Erik Prince lives in the United Arab Emirates, and that Prince was a top Trump campaign adviser who met with the RDIF for Trump and then lied to Congress about it.
/ We know Erik Prince didn't just lie about meeting with the RDIF—he *risked felony charges* to do it. We know he also risked felony charges by lying about whether he had worked for the Trump campaign and by lying about setting up an in-campaign (August 2016) Trump-UAE meeting.
/ We know Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump spent time in Summer 2016 in close contact with both RDIF advisors and people close to them. We know the RDIF is as important to Putin as anything he has done as President of Russia, because it could help save Russia from financial ruin.
/ We know Jared Kushner left certain RDIF-connected loans off his federal forms. We know Trump had decided to run for president by January 2013. We know the Kremlin was using its agents to financially entice Trump to come to Moscow in mid-2013. And we know even more than this.
/ We know Donald Trump Jr. was running Trump Tower Moscow negotiations from '13 on, was approached by both the UAE and Russia in Summer 2016 in two meetings he never revealed, and that he was regularly traveling to the UAE during this period to handle the new Trump golf course.
/ We know that if the RDIF wanted to give Trump a cut of the Rosneft deal in exchange for favorable Russia policy, as the Steele Dossier alleges, it easily could've arranged for loans to Kushner or assistance with Trump Tower Moscow negotiations or funding as a way of doing it.
/ We know that if the RDIF had wanted to do this, we'd be seeing *exactly* the pattern of secret meetings involving Kushner, Trump Jr., and Russia and UAE officials that we have, in fact, seen. Are all these things related? I don't know. But I know Mueller's looking at it. /end
PS/ Putin stooge Konstantin Rykov, who's publicly claimed he was part of a plot to assist Trump in winning the 2016 election, not only has published facts that support his claim he was part of such a clandestine operation, but dates that effort to 2011—when the RDIF was created.
