Reasons sea otters are fascinating little creatures - a thread.

They 'raft' together in open waters to stay together as a group.

When they sleep, otters wrap themselves in kelp to make sure they don't drift from the group.
The smallest marine mammals on earth are southern sea otters.
Sea otters groom constantly, fluffing their fur.
When fluffed up, the soft fibres trap air. This gives the otter buoyancy and insulation, preventing the cold water from reaching their skin.
Sea otters use rocks as tools to dislodge and break open prey, such as crabs, urchins and other invertebrates.
Unlike any other otter, sea otters even give birth in water!

Trump begrudgingly "caved" due to the backlash.

But, as it was all about holding the children hostage to get his demands...the order still pressures Congress to act quickly to avert the problems it delays and creates.
1. KEEPS FAMILIES TOGETHER...WITH BIG CAVEATS.

While the DOJ will continue to prosecute ALL adults crossing the border illegally, it keeps families together but only "where appropriate and consistent with law and available resources."

Leaves flexibility.
2. KEEPS FAMILIES W/ DHS.

Parents can stay with their children in detention with DHS, but the catch is only to the "extent permitted by law and subject to the availability of appropriations."

BIG CAVEAT...THE FLORES AGREEMENT PREVENTS CHILDREN FROM BEING DETAINED AFTER 20 DAYS.

There are 13 species of otters found around the world. Most otter species are near threatened, vulnerable or endangered. Populations of otters are decreasing, except for the N.American river otter, which is listed as stable and of "least concern" for extinction 😢#WorldOtterDay
Due to massive fur trading between 1741 & 1911, otters are classified as endangered species. Currently, one of the biggest threats to sea otters are oil spills in addition to disease, poaching and other environmental concerns. 😢😢#WorldOtterDay
