Why do indigenous people on-line always end up being asked to more or less write settlers’ phd theses for them, just because a settler seems convinced that our knowledge is valuable enough for them to mine, but not valuable enough for us to keep as our own intellectual property?
It doesn’t matter if your phd ticks all the right boxes, just because you’ve learnt the appropriate buzz words, ...
if you can’t manage to think two seconds about the ethical implications of asking individuals on the Internet to answer your broad, sweeping questions about an entire culture’s way of understanding the world on a linguistic, communal and theoretical level.
I tend to get more worked up about these e-mails and towards the end of the academic school year, but man - could you at least contact scholars employed by universities in your supposed field before you start fishing for someone to do the work for you on Tumblr of all places ?!
