THREAD // Why You Aren't Improving Consistently

The last time I worked in an office was just over 2 years ago

I remember the feeling when I left that company...

It felt like a huge weight had been lifted

The next day I was officially a full-time freelancer

And I was lost...
I'm one of those people who needs a certain amount of structure and organization to perform my best

The problem with freelancing and running my own business was I had no set schedule

Because I didn't know what to focus on when, why, or how
You start the day off with a blank slate

So every day ends up being different

Some days you get a lot done, but others you don't

So you lack consistency and momentum

There's no RHYTHM to your business

And it's hard to make progress that way
I journal every day now...

__________________________

3 of the questions I ask myself are:

- What's my #1 priority?

- What were my 3 BIG WINS (actions completed successfully)?

- What’s ONE thing that I could have done to make today BETTER?
If you don't know what you're doing right, it's going to be difficult to improve

I repeat:

** If you don't know what you're doing right, it's going to be difficult to improve **

You need to TRACK what's working so you can do those things AGAIN and place greater focus on them
Here's how I do it:

- Daily reviews
- Weekly review
- Quarterly reviews

Ask yourself:

- What worked TODAY?
- What worked THIS WEEK?
- What worked THIS MONTH?
There's more to it, but those are the broad strokes

Two years later, I'm VERY organized

- I know what I need to focus on each day

- I know what's working, what isn't and how to adapt

- I know how to adjust what I'm doing when something unexpected comes up
I still make mistakes, but by following this review process I'm increasing my efficiency

And it's delivering better and better results

You want your business to be a well-oiled machine

- Less guessing
- More focus

- Faster decisions
- Better calculated risks
