Yes the Forbes take was cliched shit, and this a crackingly worded bit of anger that it deserved, but it still bums me out a bit. I buried both my parents last year and it's really changed my perspective on the generational front of the all-consuming culture war.
Don't even really know what the point of tweeting that was. I guess that on this issue and a hundred others, it's just exhausting feeling like I've got a cultural/political duty to feel constant searing hatred towards people.
Like, you could make a sound political argument that it's only a function of privilege that means I feel like I have an option about whether to hate all the people this website tells me to hate, and I guess I'd have to agree if only to avoid getting beasted myself.
But I don't want to hate, and I don't want to be angry all the time. I don't want to punch the world better. I can think of a huge bunch of people I like and respect who would probably be disgusted at me saying that, but I'm sick of not saying it.
I'm not even trying to pretend I'm some sort of blissful peace lad. I struggle a lot with anger, against things I can't change and myself for my failures. Many days I wake up panting from scary, violent dreams. Which makes it doubly knackering to buckle in for the day on here.
Yeah sorry, this really isn't about the Mike Drucker tweet any more. But I swear it could equally apply to half the things I'll see on my timeline today, and from people with the same general political leanings as me too.
(And believe me, I really get what people are angry about in so many cases. I'm not diminishing it, or condoning the targets, at all. Sometimes I get swept right up in it myself. It's just that I, personally, feel fucking _withered_ by being immersed in it all day.)
