If all goes well, 6 weeks from today I will ENTER THE DADZONE. I'm extremely excited! But folks keep giving me DIRE WARNINGS about sleep deprivation, as if I didn't know about it. Genuinely not sure why so many parents try to big up how horrendous it is to prospective babyhavers?
Lemme be clear, I've had tons of good advice too, and some really sweet messages from men on the other side of the DAD HORIZON, preparing me for some of the more subtle hurdles. But for every one of those, there's ten people acting like I'm about to fight WW1 with a super soaker.
The truth is, this is what I want to do with my life, and I'll throw myself at it like a soft and gentle train. I'm shit at many things, but one thing I can always do is find energy when someone else needs me to. So, just a heads-up that I'm totally good for ghastly warnings <3

I have _no idea_ how Amazon works. I was delighted when loads of people RTed stuff about 100 Games this week, but Amazon taking 1 week plus to ship is disappointing. I can cope with the responsibility of marketing my published work, but I feel a bit powerless over distribution!
FWIW, I'm really sorry I keep coming out here on the beg for you all to buy the book. The truth is, for authors who aren't massive names, 90% of marketing after launch month comes down to us peddling our wares online, hoping we don't alienate folks by talking like salespeople.

Just had my first proper advert dad moment going through departures at berlin-tegel. After 5 minutes of confusion over what to do with the baby's pushchair, the security lads politely commanded me to fully disassemble it, as a massive queue of waiting businessmen watched on.
We'd already held everyone up for ages, so I was feeling acutely anxious, & suddenly the pressure of the moment folded some valve of my brain completely shut. I forgot all my German, most of my English, & every conception of the pushchair as something more than an abstract shape.
I was just sort of pawing at the joints of the thing, making quiet, plaintive honking sounds - all my memory of the infernal engine's folding mechanism had vanished like snow before piss, but I figured I could postpone humiliation by at least *miming* that I was putting it down.

Let's talk a little bit today about inter-Indigenous respect/care.
It's generally the standard that as an Indigenous person, you don't speak for *all* your people, and you definitely don't speak for other Indigenous peoples. I'm not talking about some of the shared issues we face, where generalizations are politically useful.
There is, and should always be great diversity of opinion and approach within our communities, because our communities are LIVING and humans aren't drones.

But we run into difficulty sometimes when we're trying to deal with or support Indigenous communities/peoples not our own.

#Today's story to #EndFamilySeparation Four months ago, Dad and 4-month-old entered at the Texas/Mexico border and requested #asylum. Dad and child were immediately separated and the baby put in ORR custody. #FamiliesBelongTogether
Dad was detained in a #Texas detention center where @RAICESTEXAS consulted. Dad accepted a deportation to be quickly reunited w/ his infant child. However, the Dad was deported & NOT his child. The now 8-month-old baby has been in ORR custody for 4 months. #EndFamilySeparation
The Mom and Dad now have once weekly Skype calls with their 8-month-old baby. That's right, folks. They Skype with an infant. #EndFamilySeparation #FamiliesBelongTogether

For those who don’t know, the past 5 years of my career I've been working on an OS for Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality. 2 years ago, I realized that as VR/AR hardware reaches wider audiences, people will expect more than installable apps and games. They will expect the Web.
In fact, extrapolating from phone/tablet usage today, half of time spent in VR/AR could be spent browsing the Web. That realization began my journey into what became the W3C Immersive Web group and our work to design and build the WebXR Devices APIs to enable that future.

So, I tore my ACL dancing at a wedding on FRIDAY THE DANG 13TH, October 2017.

Couple of things about it:
1. It did not hurt!
2. I did it wearing high heels that I KNEW BETTER THAN TO WEAR and wore them anyway and am STILL MAD ABOUT IT
I was not even cutting a rug! I was doing some very decorous slow dancing with the my delightful friend @RachelTheC (to what song I do not remember, maybe she does???) and just like, suddenly it was like I did not have a knee or a bottom half of my leg.
