Been engaged in a long thread with @0Calamity and others with the common Corbynite theme:
"But what can Corbyn do? He's not in power"
For a "popular movement" there seems to be a lack of awareness of how they work.
So, what *can* he do?
a) unfortunately, 80% of our current MPs are, well, sheep. They follow, especially public opinion, they don't lead
b) the prerequisite for stopping Brexit is public opinion. This *must* be shifted or it won't stick
Putting to one side the "party before country" bias which is obvious to any non Labour supporter, isn't this what Labour is about?
Anyway, let's talk about public opinion, which is shifting against #Brexit and has been for months
"We respect...but look at Airbus/BMW, we can't accept job losses"
"We respect...but the Brexiters, let's face it, are a total shower and bunch of zealots! Look what they promised"
When public opinion changes and their seats are threatened, they'll change sides double quick
And Corbyn's Labour doesn't need to be in power to shift public opinion
(If it did need to be in power to change public opinion, then let's face it, it never will be)
It's a sleight of hand verbally, but we are talking about politicians here 😋
Of course, he'd also have to *want* to, but that's a different story
