I was born in 1949. At 16 birth control pills were illegal unless you had serious female problems. This was in 1965. The sexual revolution was in full force OK. I lost 11 friends to back ally abortions. It was a nutty time. Vietnam was taking our peers and it was sad.
2/ We were protesting the war, music was acid rock, drugs were rampant except of course birth control pills. We protested and in 68 pills were legalized for single women. Adoption was frequent and very profitable for the religious groups who ran agencies and the lawyers.
3/ We were demoralized on every front. In college I lost my best friend who let her preacher talk her out of a 28 week vaginal forced delivery. She had toxemia and 10 days later died from that choice leaving her husband and 2 kids. They buried them together. Mom and baby.
4/ We were protesting the War, King had been assinated Robert Kennedy was too. They shot protestors at Kent State for God's sake! We protested more. I personally lost 2 cousins in Nam. Women had to fight just for everything.
5/ In 1973 Roe v Wade made abortion legal and Watergate was upon us. 1974 Nixon resigned then Ford pardoned him.

6/ Civil rights was serious and ongoing. I had black friends who were scared to walk to the bus stop.
All in all my young life was hard but I learned to stand up and speak my mind. I learned to fight and protest. I thought that this country was better now.

7/ Over the years I have voted for the candidate not the party. But now I am seeing babies in cages, the return of the KKK and women's rights, civil rights, the environment, voting rights, and war hawks coming back. Only this time it's Russian.
8/ America we have one hell of a big mess. A president who is clueless, a Wallace want to be for Attorney General, an EPA director who is attempting to destroy our environment and an education secretary who is dumbing our kids down. I can only pray and work to elect democrats.
9/ At least it will be stable. But it just is my prayer that somehow America learns to love each other and stand together. It's not us against them when them are Americans. We are the melting pot where people from all nations come together to create a better life.
10/ I bet not 1 of you isn't from immigrants. It's our community of multiple countries with multiple views that has helped us be the best. It doesn't matter what you do its that you do your best. Success is happy, money isn't. America is not following our ideals. Wake up!
11/ it's apparently going to be us who have to stand up again. I'm not a kid but I can promise you I won't let my country go down without a fight. Trump is the manchurian candidate and is bankrupting us. If it were only money! But this country needs us! Fight back! Please!
