One aspect of Judge Kavanaugh’s jurisprudence that hasn’t gotten a lot of attention is his central role in the D.C. Circuit’s #GTMO jurisprudence, both with respect to detainee habeas cases & military commission appeals.

As for the commissions, Judge Kavanaugh’s concurrence in Al Bahlul III is perhaps the most important defense of those courts’ power to try domestic offenses:

I’ve (rather vehemently) disagreed with his analysis, but there’s no doubting its significance.
To be clear, I think Judge Kavanaugh is immensely bright, talented, and qualified (even if he is a @Nationals fan). He’s an exceptionally gifted judge with whom I just (often) disagree.

I’m just putting this out there to help inform the conversation about his jurisprudence...

With no noted dissents, #SCOTUS summarily denies stay sought by the unnamed, foreign government-owned corporation arising from a contempt citation for defying a grand-jury subpoena related to the Mueller investigation:

supremecourt.gov/orders/courtor…

This is not a surprising result.
As a result, the accumulation of the contempt fine will resume—which should presumably put (increasing) pressure on the mystery foreign government-owned corporation to either comply with the subpoena or to otherwise cooperate with the Soecial Counsel in exchange for dropping it.
This doesn’t end the appeal; the mystery corporation can still ask #SCOTUS to take the case on the merits. But the denial of the stay (and the absence of any noted dissents) is a pretty strong signal that the Justices are inclined to sit this one out.

A reminder that we could hear from #SCOTUS as early as today with respect to whether it will continue or vacate Chief Justice Roberts’s administrative stay of the contempt citation against the unnamed foreign company that apparently defying a Mueller-related grand jury subpoena.

He was asked several times about the name Bart. He was under oath & lied every time. Here is one example w his own letter next to his perjury

I am angry & heartbroken for anyone who has ever been dismissed like #ChuckGrassley is dismissing #ChristineBlaseyFord and her very serious allegations, in order to rush a vote for a lifetime appointment to the highest court in the land.

So, I wrote a letter to @senjudiciary.
Contacting members of the committee was hard. I got MANY responses from senators that they only will hear from their state’s constituents.

So I ask you all, if you live in a state with a Senator on Judiciary, please contact them.
