You think you do, but you likely don't have TRUE freedom.

So, in the spirit of today's glorious holiday, here's how to create true freedom for yourself.

*Bald eagle screeching*

THREAD
In my opinion, true freedom is being able to do whatever the fuck you want, whenever the fuck you want to do it. Not answering to anyone. Not asking for permission. Not relying on anyone but yourself, ever.

Antifragile.

Unfuckwithable.
True freedom boils down to two things:

(1) Financial freedom
(2) Location freedom
Financial freedom is money. Money you make yourself. Money that doesn't directly require your time. Money that is always landing in your bank account, regardless of how many hours of work you put in per week.
Location freedom is money with no locational obligation. No matter where you are in the world, you are still making money. You could travel year round, travel only a few times a year, or never travel. The point is your income isn't tied to any specific location.
For the entirety of human history, up until about 20 years ago, it was near impossible to have true freedom.

Even if you owned a business, it had a physical location. Yes, you could have employees running it for you, but your income was still bound to this location.
The Internet has made true freedom available to anyone and everyone. It does not discriminate. There are no "rules." You provide something of value, something people want and are willing to buy, that (to them) is more valuable than money itself.

And you make money.
"Internet Money," unlike any other previous form of income, is location independent. I've made money from my apartment, from the library, even from a tiny coffee shop in New Zealand. It requires nothing but a laptop and a Wifi connection.
However, making "Internet Money" in and of itself is NOT true freedom.

It is location freedom, but it is not financial freedom.
Internet Money only becomes financial freedom when you have multiple sources of it, that each on their own, could cover your cost of living. If one goes down, no worries, you have more. This creates "outcome independence."
Outcome independence is a hallmark of true freedom. No matter what happens, good or bad, the outcome for you is the same. You still make money. No matter what.
Having outcome independence allows you to act in a very powerful way.

A way that attracts people, that is magnetic. Because you don't need them. No matter what they do, it will have little impact on your life as a whole. There is no neediness. No dependence.

You simply are.
So, the only path to true freedom is having multiple location independent income sources that do not directly require your time.
Currently, I have three sources of location independent income.

Two Shopify stores and this personal brand.
If I died right now, I would still make hundreds of dollars per day.

Everything is on autopilot.

This is true freedom.
True freedom means being the OWNER of location independent, time independent, income producing assets.
You cannot have true freedom working for someone else. Even if you make $750k per year, you are not truly free. You answer to a boss. Your income is dependent on them. And if it's you're only source of income, you are heavily outcome DEPENDENT.
True freedom also entails being "liquid" (i.e. being able to pick up and leave at the drop of a hat without losing any money or assets).

This requires a cash savings that can be tapped into at any time.

6 months living expenses at your current lifestyle bare minimum.
While all of this is true, there are also different levels of "true freedom."

The highest being, "I could stop working right now, never work another day in my life, and still live at my current lifestyle until the day I die."

I do not have this yet.

Very few people do.
This level of true freedom is achieved by 0.0001% of the population, ever.

It is ultimately how you "win" the game of life.
So, yes, if you live in America, you are "free."

But, do not be mistaken.

You are not TRULY free.

Not until you build multiple sources of location and time independent income, have complete outcome independence, and are truly liquid.

Only then are you actually "free."

FIN.
