#schoolfires is more about the denigration of our public schools, and a growing neglect of the role of schools as an incubator of citizens.
Education should foster democracy, shared values, and social cohesion in our diverse nation. The costs of abandoning an institution designed to bind, not divide, kenyans will be high.
Public schools are bloated at the top leadership, with too many administrators and not enough high-quality teachers in the classroom.
The evidence; civic education is in an alarming state and kenyans are increasingly growing tolerant of authoritarianism. Noticed the rising levels of antidemocratic and illiberal thinking in public opinion? Because public schools play a pivitol role in fostering citizens.
