What’s the difference, you ask?
Well *gesticulates to an empty room* that’s a great question.
Fundamentally, an interpreter works with spoken word/sign language.
A translator works with written word.
An interpreter works alone/taking turns in a pair and has to do on-the-spot interpretation from language A to language B. It can be a very tiring job, particularly when people *looks directly at Trump* tend to trail off at the end of sentences/not form complete sentences
A translator works to translate written word from language A to language B. They can have more time to construct sentences, often work in a team and have the benefit of the whole text in front of them to convey context. However it’s also a difficult job.
