The idea Sanders is some young voters whisper is ridiculous and ignores critical 2016 data.
Sanders won a higher percentage of young voters in a yr - that was bad for that demos turnout

Turnout across the Democrat primary races and especially among young voters was down across the board.

In 2008, Clinton and Obama fought to a near draw 18 million voters to 18 million voters. In 2016 Clinton’s 16.9 easily best Sanders 12 million. John Kerry got 13 mil.

What ppl don’t understand is the only consistency for Young voters is - you need to stay positive in your campaigning !!!!

I wouldn’t put 5 dollars banking on Young voters remaining progressive on principal

At this age they are still vacillating between their friends/parents

I will get to young voters real personalities later.

But one thing we know about young voters - the more negative a campaign is the less likely they are to turnout, especially on the Dems side. Less so for young republicans.

And that was a very negative campaign

Sanders turnout numbers weren’t stunning at all if you look at the raw totals for previous yrs- they were horrendous. So the media focused on percentages which made for a better story of his power.

But negative campaigns/a we hate message which he is prone - encourages apathy

The more conspiratorial you are the less likely that person will be to vote- for anyone.

You feed ppl on a diet of conspiracies the less likely that person is to be engaged with the political process

People who fit The profile of a berner research tells us are unlikely to vote or will cost the party more money to engage than just finding 10 new voters, registering them, and bringing them to the polls.

So while other operatives won’t tell you this as we don’t write anyone off

We will just spend more time finding those 10 new voters rather than spending money, canvass teams time or focus on flipping a voter who is enthrenched in a conspiracy laden ideaology.

You tell me something like the primary was rigged. I mark my paper and skip your house

Young voters take a lot of work. And they are very diverse.

I think what the left mistakes as is liberal is really they are open to being liberal.

They are not a sure thing and my time spent w/ their evolution showed me a few things.

Don’t assume young voters are as liberal as you are.

Again they are open to liberalism. But they just came from their parents homes and have hints of conservatism.

Trigger those issues the wrong way and they will conclude they most be conservative.

Let me give you an example from the 90s movie Drive Me Crazy w/ Mealissa Joan Hart and Adrien Grenier. Grenier character was this woke - type who was down w/ all the activist causes. So his GF asssumed he would be against animal testing. He wasn’t. Plot ensued they broke up.

In the movie he wasn’t down for because his mother died of cancer and in her final days did all level of treatments. He had life experience that gave him pause on the full plate of the “woke agenda” and ending moving away from those who questioned his commitment

That 90s movie is a perfect analogy of how I have seen Democrat liberals approach young voters. You are liberal so you must be for - XYZ - if not your fake.

And they push the growing list of fake - to a large group.

The approach they have is designed to fail

Voting is the most establishment thing you can do!

It’s hard to run against the establishment and then ask people to become it!
