Recently, I had been to Kanyakumari. A few takeaways.
1. The Church domination is telling. For example, sunrise view is directly from my room. The only problem? There's a church with a blaring horn between my room and the sea.
The noise started at 5 AM, disturbing sleep and continued unabated till 9. Below is a snapshot of the decibel meter. For reference, it should be less than. 55 decibels. And note, the speakers are some 250 metres from where I was.
2. The driver I booked for a trip to Trivandrum has got a proper Hindu name and owns an agency with a Hindu name. Why would one doubt that he is not a Hindu? I got to know of this when he refused the Prasadam I offered to him after visiting Anantapadmanabha Swamy Temple.
When I tried to recall what and all happened,
a. He told the road to Suchindram is bad and will consume more time. But, from the junction we drifted away from Suchindram, it was just 7 km or so. That, then, seems to be an excuse.
‌b. He took us to Poovar. The operator explicitly told us not to have meals at a particular restaurant. Reason? That restaurant is to be the only Hindu one in the area. The boat driver was out and out Christian, that's a different aspect altogether.
c. The interest he showed for Kovalam beach, which we rejcted, had he been a Hindu, surely, he would have made some time for Suchindram.
‌d. And then, the incident in the city, where he refused the Prasadam from Lord Anantapadmanabha Swamy.
3. This makes me doubt if the Hotel which I stayed is also Christian.
This is my message to @BJP4TamilNadu in particular and @PonnaarrBJP in specific. It looks like every penny I spent on the trip will go to fund the elections against you. What are you going to do to ensure that such things don't happen with innocent visitors? @BJP4India @AmitShah
What I feel is these people are trying to drive away money from Kanyakumari and use the dejection of the masses to convert. But, till the time there is money, they are ensuring that they will have a share of that.
I can suggest a few things:
1. Enforce ban of loudspeakers and encroachments, whatever the religious body doing it.
2. Run a volunteer group. Let them be shopkeepers, let them be autodrivers, let them be anyone. Their duty? Ensure that you spend money only on Hindus - Hindu shops, Hindu run hotels and Hindu tour operators. Flood the city with people. But remember, you need to maintain quality.
When Christians are already doing it, I don't see any reason why Hindus should do it, that too in an area where the MP won just because he is a Hindu.
