Assholes found my thread after I went to bed last night and I've spent my morning sifting through hundreds and hundreds of notifications and blocking dozens of people.

So, hey, who wants to hear about common arguments?

1) All the Left does is politicize communities, and the reason communities shift to the Far Right is a reaction to Leftist infiltration.

This is based in the thinking that "people in communites applying a progressive political lens to art" is the exact same thing as getting infiltrated by Stormfront.

Dozens of people have said "this is all the left does."

In this view, all progressives are working with each other. All political analysis is coordinated. The number of folks this morning saying "you people," "you're all alike," etc. is high.

(quick break to block more assholes)

2) The Rightward shift is CAUSED by SJW infiltration. Multiple people (probably disingenuously) claim to have been "SJWs" before GG/CG/whatever and now vote Republican just to piss us off.

So: communities are perfectly fine until someone talks about feminism, and then they radicalize in the opposite direction as punishment.

This is, of course, false, but it's very hard to explain why in terms they would understand.

One phrase bandied about A LOT is "the personal is political," invoked with disdain. Several people pointed to this belief as toxic, a message that ruins communities, tears them apart from the inside.

So the only way to keep a community from radicalizing is to never discuss politics at all. If you describe your hobby in political terms, the community will revolt by veering to the Right.

(Somehow communities never revolt against bigotry by veering to the Left, because Far Right beliefs are considered either apolitical or "probably trolling.")

The only response the Left can give is that, yeah, everything is political, and we're just pointing out what the politics are.

I mean, SERIOUSLY? Star Wars was apolitical until the SJWs ruined it? Did you SEE the prequels? Have you HEARD of The Last Jedi?!

(another pause to block dickheads; they're still coming)

3) Exaggeration of progressive politics. Expressing any feminist, anti-racist, or otherwise progressive view makes you a "far left identitarian." (NO ONE on the Left uses that word, it's an Alt-Right euphemism for "white supremacist.")

We're not only infiltrating communities AND all in league with each other, we're also extremely radical and bent on censoring the thing you love.

Is this starting to sound like propaganda to you?

This is all just flipping ludicrous when we KNOW Stormfront and the Alt-Right HAVE HANDBOOKS for how to radicalized white men on forums.

Actual infiltrators are seen as apolitical because the community is already predisposed towards their politics, and anyone who challenges them is the real infiltrator.

This relies on some heavy revisionism, that progressive politics were never part of these communities until recently.

How do you get a normie to understand that? That "the personal is political" isn't an ideology, it's a statement of fact? We're not even, like, ADVOCATING for it, just acknowledging reality.

To sum up: People expressing progressive politics are not a monolith infiltrating your media, they tend to be marginalized people who don't have the luxury of pretending their lives aren't politicized because their lives are literally the subjects of Supreme Court cases.

And if you believe life can be divorced from politics, white supremacists who say "the inferiority of the Black race isn't a political belief, it's a simple fact" will play you like a fiddle.

Now I'm going to watch Steven Universe.
