I had a great time discussing new ways of making progress in our economy over breakfast with the Nigerian cohort of the Obama Foundation Leaders Program.
We had an interesting session exploring innovative ways to tackle issues like ease of doing business, progressive leaderships at MDAs through oversight, and our education curriculum.
It is always refreshing to meet with forward-thinking and vibrant minds who have fully committed themselves to influencing national policy and taking advantage of legislative actions to further their combined agenda.

We should look at the Zamfara killings as a major threat to our democracy — particularly as we move towards the general elections in the next 50 days. We should not allow criminal elements to take over parts of our country.
The situation in Zamfara State is an example of why we need to overhaul our security architecture in order to bring it to a state where it can effectively tackle emerging threats and challenges.
There is need for proper profiling of the situation in Zamfara so that we can know whether it is cattle rustling; vicious armed robbery on a large scale; a religious/ethnic crisis; or, an invasion by foreign forces.

I call on @NGRPresident @MBuhari to end the uncertainty by signing, without delay, the 2018 #ElectoralBill. This would allow @INECNigeria and all concerned parties to prepare on time for a credible process in the upcoming General Election.

My position remains that the @NGRPresident, his aides, the entire country and the international community are aware that all the concerns raised by the @NGRPresident on the past three occasions he withheld assent to the #ElectoralBill have been addressed by the legislature.
We bent backwards on each occasion to accommodate the wishes of the President on the #ElectoralBill. We started work on this law since 2016 to prevent a situation where it would become part of the election controversies.

We thank the people of Ekiti/Oke Ero/Isin/Irepodun who came out to vote today — defying the heavy intimidation and the siege laid by the security agents and thugs invited into the 4 LGAs by the APC. #KwaraByElection
The public should note that today’s #KwaraByElection was simply between PDP and security agents plus APC. This was due to the heavy deployment of police, soldiers and other security agents who gathered to support APC and harass PDP leaders and supoorters.
This is the first time that elections in Kwara State will be held under such charged, tensed and militarised conditions. We had INEC officials complaining about their own safety — and PDP supporters were brazenly intimidated, which resulted in low turn out of voters.

In 1988 I was living in cosy domesticity in a quiet Northants village. I was 33 and just finishing my M Phil on pirate radio. I saw that World In Action rave special and thought hmmm people are throwing new dance shapes. >
I taped the show on VHS and showed it to my Sociology A level students. 3 Asian lads at the back were hip to all this and told me "yeah but its all over now. the police are closing up all the parties". That's what the rave scene had been to them, a summer thing and finished now>
Its important to stress this. None of us knew where this was all going, how it was going to just explode into a whole new thing. I saw all the moral panic, THAT Sun headline with the front page picsa nd i thought the minute I finish this MPhil I want some of that.
