Under Senate rules, a senator’s request for “unanimous consent” – or passage without a vote – is approved unless any one senator objects.

1. I think the message from the Democrats was clear last night.

Instead of wasting money on an archaic wall, let’s take that money and implement state of the art technology, a SmartWall if you will—including drones, cameras, fixed towers and sensors.
2. We also need more personnel on the ground.

And most importantly, we need a humane system to allow these human beings a safe path to seeking asylum and potential citizenship.
3. We must give these people legal representation.

We also need more immigration judges. Currently there are only 750 judges for 750k cases which leaves immigrants waiting for years. Allow due process in a civil space for their stories to be told.

Jakelin Amei Rosmery Caal Maquin is her name.

She was seven years old.

Jakelin was in Border Patrol custody when she died last week of dehydration and cardiac arrest.

DHS Secretary Nielsen blames Jakelin’s family for her death, but reports today show that Border Patrol failed to give her medical treatment for 90 minutes after her father reported symptoms to CBP officials.

An hour and a half.

Just imagine her suffering.

THREAD: At 3pm, the Senate will vote on a resolution to block the FCC’s #NetNeutrality repeal and restore basic protections that prevent companies like Comcast and AT&T from censoring online content, slowing down websites and apps, and charging expensive new fees.
Our work for Internet freedom will continue long after today, but the outcome of this vote will affect the battlefield that we are fighting on for years to come.

The @NRA & #gun companies are not evil but they are part of the problem. And the amazing thing is: all the folks clamoring to #BoycottNRA don't even know how bad it really is!
5 things the #NRA & gun manufacturers have successfully lobbied to create...
1) Background chk system overseen by the ATF that is forbidden to digitize records & so must keep all records on paper
2) BG chk system that is enormously hobbled at ATF bec of extreme funding shortages so that it can't do its job well & so that the NRA can claim it doesn't work
3) Passage of the #Dickey Amendment that forbids gov't research from reaching conclusions that might be construed as advocating for gun control, thus allowing the #NRA to say, "No studies show..." and leaving legislators with no data to back up laws that might work
