I guess I need to share this as we proceed as a people. Life shouldn’t be taken too seriously. Everything shouldn’t be personal. We may not agree on one thing but agree on so many other things. Our disagreement on an issue shouldn’t contaminate what we have already agreed on.
For those who love to read, please lay your hands on Carl Jung’s Twelve Character Archetypes. If you study this you will never need to be envious of another. It will help you know who you are and how to relate with others by understanding their goal and fears.
I have been studying character archetypes for over six years across platforms and it aided my understanding of engagement cum the art of listening to words unexpressed. The goal of the innocent for example is Happiness and their greatest fear is punishment.
I can write a book on this but just picture how monsters are being created daily in our innocent youth across Nigeria being accused of crimes they know nothing about and mostly get paraded and punished. What this does to the psyche is reveal a new creature after adaptability.
Orphans (literally and otherwise) seek belonging and fear Exclusion. Maslow’s hierarchy of needs shows how isolated the human nature can be without Self Actualization. Thus, we are psychologically orphans seeking to belong and fear being ostracized (solitary confinement).
Society use this against us a lot. We have many of these social constructs; classism, nepotism, etc deployed to create a sort of cult or identity politics that people will have to earn to belong. This is one of the reasons why genuine advocacies don’t register/enlist members.
This is principally because the moment the “orphan natured” being earn his right to belong, he begins to oppress others he now sees as lesser beings. See Police, Army and other uniformed institutions. See the elitists and the way they point their nose to the sky.
Cut off the membership of an elitist from his Prestigious Club & see how they gasp for survival. Take away the chieftaincy title/Deaconship from a societal man/woman & see how deflated their ego becomes. Don’t get me started about Politicians. Exclusion is an existential threat.
You can also see most “Water Hyacinths” on Twitter who flock around Twelebs. They are fine in as much as they belong to the clique (BMC/PDP) and are always protected by those they tag once they get into trouble with other ideologues. Ignore them and they self destruct.
I’ve seen many people use the word Hero generously. Heroes are usually sick people, misfits, abnormal & isolated beings who most probably have spent too much time by themselves. Their goal in life is to change the world having conquered themselves. Their fear is Weakness.
Many women want to marry or date a hero having watched too much superhero movies. Heroes don’t do well in relationships. They can’t afford to have soft targets. They’ll sacrifice anything & anyone for a greater cause. Sentiments is usually downplayed & they’re mostly misconstrued
The life of a hero is a life of constant critical decisions and responsibility. You don’t approach such individuals with your personal needs unless it helps progress the cause. Jesus Christ was/is the greatest Hero ever. It was all about the Kingdom of God. Nothing else.
I met a lady today while leaving a firm and she just wanted to chat. She talked about graduating from OAU Ife, MassCommunications but couldn’t get a job but had to go for training in NursingSchool. She graduated and started working passionately in that field even without good pay
She grew in compassion for others and her greatest fear became falling through the cracks into selfishness. She literally sponsored most of her siblings through school while working as a Nurse & doubling as a cleaner in the callous cheap hospitals where she works.
These are unsung heroes we will never follow on twitter. These are He voices society silences on the daily when they don’t comply to saying what society wants to hear. The spirit of Exploration is killed by society & Govt. These are freedom seekers who fear Entrapment.
I’m sure many of you’ve looked at someone’s Dp or banner and criticize their dressing or photo. You want them a certain way that suits your own formwork without considering their individuality & personality. The same way we redefined feminism to mean witchcraft or being a bitch.
