I wonder if it would surpise most of the "opinion leaders" and "top influencers" that joined this sector last year that I don't give a flying toss what they think most of the time.
I've been in this sector for nearly 5 years now and haven't sat still. I have not invested one $$ into crypto: I have earned everything I have by work.

That means providing services that are seen as valuable, because I do not take payment up front: that keeps me honest.
I've talked and engaged with many people, frequently people that either disagreed with me or I with them: that keeps me on my toes and ensures I don't get complacent.

Most of these, I fully respect, even when disagreeing.
I've spend thousands of man hours reading, before articles in mainstream were cool.

That meant being on forums, channels and practice close reading (and posting).

It also means I know Crypto Twitter is tame by comparison.
I've held to my ethics and convictions not because they make me popular, but because I believe in them. You will not often see me badmouth people, but I don't care if others do, as long as I can say I think it's not productive.
I've met plenty of people who agree with me, and those are the ones I work with. The others: they need to do what works for them. It's honestly fine as long as they don't interfere with my work.
So when I see another op-ed or article from a newcomer who thinks he's terribly smart: chances are I've seen that many times already in the past 5 years. Chances are good, too, that people have discussed them for ages each of those times.
Project memory in crypto is bad: this means discussions tend to come back many times because people refuse to use search buttons on forums. With the advent of slack use, this gets even worse because most convos are deleted.
So yes, energy usage has been done to death. PoW vs. PoS has been done to death. Private blockchains have been done to death. I can go on and on.
Unless writers take the time to read up before writing their pieces, chances are your article is just something we've already heard many times. Little or no new thing can be added unless you know what's been said.
This is one of the reasons why @AaronvanW, @nic__carter and @el33th4xor and other veterans write good pieces: they know what has been said and thus have a much better chance of adding something genuinely new or thought provoking. I *do* give a flying toss what they say!
Gentlemen and ladies journalists/bloggers/writers: unless you put in the time to read up on nearly 10 years of cutting edge discussions you are likely to be boring and repetitive. I suggest you read up before putting pen to paper. It's the main reason the sector criticises you.
If you do that, I am more than sure people will listen and engage with your thoughts. At the moment, most of what is written is just too lazily written. And nobody likes to waste their time on that.
