Personally, I don’t think disclipnary action should be taken against Dr Ilyani. We can agree to disagree, however, lessons should be learnt. I would like to increase awareness and lets us remind ourselves (doctors) that as healthcare professionals,
we should remain neutral and should not make a statement against any community, race, religion, gender etc publicly and may we all treat our patients with love and compassion
— in line with medical ethics and what we learnt in medical school and throughout our careers as doctors.
Activists (anti and pro-LGBT), KKM (doctors), religion groups (mufti) should sit together in a closed forum to discuss about this sensitive issue and come up with a plan — moving forward. I won’t be making any more comments about this. Thank you.
