You're completely free to practice your religious faith in America, provided you're willing to fight an endless string of legal battles all the way to the Supreme Court and surrender your livelihood until they are resolved.
This is an outgrowth of the "deplatforming" mania sweeping the Left: forcing people out of the public square by making them afraid to speak up. They don't need outright bans that would violate the 1A. They just raise the marginal cost of speech until only silence is reasonable.
The same tactics have been used against the 2nd Amendment as well. You still have the NOMINAL right to speak, practice religion, or own a gun, but in practice those rights are too expensive to exercise. You end up with freedoms you cannot afford to use.
In the white-hot world of online speech, even modest costs applied to one side can tip the balance decisively. The Left is free to say what it likes, and even blatant racism won't keep a lefty off the New York Times editorial board. Righties pay a price for speech and activism.
The IRS scandal was a field test of these techniques. Additional cost and delays applied to conservatives effectively sidelined them without blatant censorship that would have violated the Constitution. Technically they were free to organize. In practice, they couldn't afford it.
Ironically, leftist ideology stipulates that marginal costs have no serious negative effect - i.e. you can raise taxes forever without slowing down the economy. In practice, they clearly understand how adding cost to a behavior suppresses the hell out of it. /end
