You have been told repeatedly by the users who have been here the longest:

Want: Complete chronological timeline of people I follow and the folks who reply.

Don't want: Algorithms that show racist shitheels who I don't follow and who don't interact with people I do.
Don't want: Delays seeing tweets from accounts that tweet timely information (@I80chains, @CAquake), and then seeing them re-appear in "Did you miss this?" 48 hours later, when they're stale.

I don't love the promoted tweets/ads, but I recognize you've got a business to run.
I've ported one of my bots from the stream API to the AA API. I haven't decided whether to do the others or to just abandon them. Considering the prohibitive pricing above the "sandbox" tier, I'm not inclined.
To go back to your question, the reason to "hire" a 3rd party client is that those clients LISTEN to their users. It's clear that Twitter doesn't. You've chosen to only ban the Nazis for German users -- that shows that you can do it, and choose otherwise.
You've chosen to apply a relevance algorithm that changes what I will see and when, and have not given me the option to disable it. (And, since I'm a pseudonym, I can't get a blue check, so I know my tweets are marked as less relevant -- my own followers don't see everything)
These choices are unpopular with your users. You know this. You don't give a F. @jack likes giving InfoWars and White Nationalists a platform, because he's a sympathizer (or worse). That is wildly unpopular with your users. You still don't give a F.
Third party clients don't say "Show this less often?" They say "Disable this, never see it again?" Because that's what users want.
That's why users like 3rd party clients. They provide a better experience than your web site. You know this, and it's likely why you're killing them.
With the exception of reducing the fail whale, virtually every user-facing change that you've made over the last 7-ish years has degraded the core twitter experience for the end user. The loss of @ev and @goldman probably set this in motion, and it's probably too late to save it.
Third party clients work around this. You could to, if you cared.

Twitter was at its best when it was simple. No blue checks, no "your friend liked this, so I'm showing it to you", no "this is from 3 days ago", and no filtering of the accounts that I actually follow.
So yeah, that's how you're #breakingmytwitter today, and I'm quite sure that it's only going to get worse in the future.

My biggest problem is that I've got 11+ years invested in the platform. If I could take my followers/followees with me elsewhere, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
