okay, so a thing that weirdly bugged me about #Blackkklansman is that there's this scene about how Ron Stallworth is an agile code switcher — "I can speak the King's English AND jive," he says— and then he basically goes to the Black Student Union talking like Matthew Yglesias.
both him and Patrice, the head of the BSU, sounded so weird and labored and i'm not sure what that directorial choice was about.
