Many tourists make the long trip from Tokyo just in order to spend a little time here. Shimonada station is on the Yosan Line, the principal railway on the island (予讃線).
Shimonada Station has a certain underdeveloped charm for sure. Opened in 1935 it sees about 60 passengers daily.
The station house is original, a simple 1935 stick construction. Tourist trains stop especially at this station to allow for photography, the last stop at sunset, to catch the views.
If you live in Tokyo and do not fancy the two day local train ride down to Ehime, you might go for the second best in terms of "ocean viewing from station platform" in nearby Kanagawa Prefecture's Kamakura Koukoumae Station (鎌倉高校前駅) on the famous Enoden line.
