There have been exporting initiatives such as this since at least 2010 (remember the £1 trillion export target) so nothing much new. The big question to ask is how the UK Gov intend to link trade promotion and trade policy priorities...
So far there is little evidence of a considered or bold approach to UK trade in the future - e.g. our bilateral FTA priorities are NZ, Australia, US where UK exporters face few barriers, we know little of plans to replace EU trade dialogues
Official web version on today's trade announcement. And this demonstrates a continuation of the Gov's silo approach to trade - there is not a mention of trade policy in here, no mention of new bilaterals, existing agreements etc
So on the one hand Liam Fox heralds the exciting opportunities available to the UK from having our own trade policy, then makes an announcement on growing exporting that doesn't mention this. That is simple incompetence, nothing more or less.
