Let’s say it’s 2021 and Pres. Harris has nominated a replacement for RBG. Doug Jones meets with them and attempts to calm his constituents about right wing fears the judge will be hostile to the 2nd Amendment.

I can see Jones making a similar statement, but Democrats are far more moderate on the issue and their extreme positions are clearly laid out (assault weapons ban’
Republicans are far more extreme about overturning Roe. I know few elected Democrats who’ve suggested repealing the 2nd amendment.
I do expect more from our politicians than to be the easy mark in a David Mamet film.
Roe will likely not be overturned but rather defanged. I expect once Kavanaugh is confirmed, eventually a red state (not, Maine, naturally) will pass an abortion ban or a technical “legal for the first three days after conception” & SC will uphold it. Other states will follow
It seems inconceivable for an originalist to side with the “invented law” of Roe over a duly elected state legislature passing law.
