Well, I suppose I'm not entirely disinterested on that score. But I do think this story is really interesting. So even if your first thought is, "Oh. A long article about a French political scandal. As if I have the bandwidth," save it for later.
I found that the more I watched and thought about this, the more interesting I found it. And this scandal actually has everything it needs to be total clickbait: I just thought it would be tacky and unhelpful to begin with that.
That said, I could have put a lot of words in the headline or the first paragraph that would have got your attention straightaway. I refrained because if everyone does that, we'll all end up in the sewer.
That said, I'm not sure how to convince people this is interesting without actually getting into that sewer. But if you're looking at this and thinking, "How long. How dull. Perhaps I have to read it to be informed, though"--no. It's not like that. It's a guilty pleasure.
