I'm live streaming from now through today's @OpenAI Five match. The match right now will be human vs human and I'll use it to explain some of the broader concepts and to get used to the live commentary myself. I'll ping again as the @OpenAI match begins!

Whilst the dota2ti_newcomer stream introduces many of the general DotA concepts (i.e. they'll explain observer wards) they won't be able to comment on the AI aspect and can't answer your questions (DotA or AI) in near real time. So far so good! ^_^

I wasn't going to do @Twitter's "Tweet the meaning behind your Twitter handle" - but then I remembered many people have introduced me with the wrong first name when they can't use @Smerity (including some _very_ high profile introductions 😅), so:

Digitization is vital to preservation as bits are our best insurance against time and entropy. Bits are resilient to chronic underfunding as storage gets cheaper. Bits can never replace the original but can allow universal access for sharing our culture and preserving it.
Underfunding may be the tragedy here but there are many tragedies no amount of funding can prevent over a long enough timeframe. Digitization may only offer a ghost - but it's a ghost that will never age and can and will get captured in the fabric of our infinite digital museum.
When something of value is truly lost any recollection is better than none. Even with lossy methods of digital preservation we are still offered faint possibilities of improved quality as technology improves.

McCain served his country with honour and I hope his legacy lives on. Until this last week I hadn't heard this story - it's a story worth reading. He had empathy and understanding, formed from his own beliefs and experiences, which we could all benefit to learn from.
It's interesting that his tag of maverick may well have been him just remaining consistent as the political landscape changed around him.

How do you make sense of connections you meet at a networking event? Here’s what works for me.
I’m not a fan of networking events but often times you meet people at all sorts of events and events are a great chance to expand your network.

1. I don’t do business cards. I connect with them on LinkedIn right there on the spot. And slightly urge them to accept it right there
2. With LinkedIn, it is easier to follow up and even see other people in their network. Remember that when you meet someone, you are now one step removed from their networks as well. Use that wisely.

This does indeed seem a bit suspect. It's in many news sources as a "mystery" as to why the FBI stepped in and evacuated the observatory in Sunspot, NM.
I had to remove those other tweets because it was originally showing as the one in Sunspot, but after rifling through their site, it's indicating other locations. I'm looking.
Okay, this is really odd. This is in fact the location and website. However, on the contact page and locations of their website, I do not see them mention this specific location. 🤔

I began writing on Thursday. It wasn't planned, that's simply when the words started to come. Or put another, more painfully truthful way, when I finally stopped finding reasons not to write.
For almost as long as I've been aware of stories, I've imagined creating my own. And I have, in a way. Ideas, and notes, and countless unfinished drafts. But nothing complete; nothing whole. Not a single thing I could show to someone else.
There always seemed to be a 'reason' of some kind or another. Being uninspired; needing to do research; waiting for the perfect time; saving up my money to buy a new personal computer to write on; wanting to clear the deck of any distractions; having too many distractions;
