Anyone who can walk/Uber to the Red Line can take it to Union Station, where the free Dodger Stadium Express bus takes you directly to the stadium. I assume they won’t go away as they serve the entire community. The Dugout Loop potentially saves 1400 people maybe 15 minutes.

As noted in the Initial Study, on-site parking is not proposed for any of the Dugout Loop western Loop Lift locations. Of the 14 stops on the Red Line, one has free on-site parking.

For 18 vehicles.

Two have on-site paid parking. The stops closest to the Dugout Loop have zero.

Parking, when available, is only $3 for 24 hours. One-way Metro trips are $1.75, so $3.50 round trip. The proposed Dugout Loop is estimated to be $1; let’s assume that’s round trip. So that’s $7.50 total.

So it would cost $7.50 to drive to, and park at, a red line metro station, where trains come every 10 min, then 14-18 minutes travel time to the metro station adjacent to the Dugout Loop life; transfer there, then I assume a small wait, then 4 minutes to Dodger Stadium.

Per the Initial Study, Dugout Loop riders would book their time slot in advance.

A Dodger Stadium parking pass, purchased in advance, costs $15.

If you have the time and resources for the Dugout Loop journey, the first rider saves $6.50. I’m not convinced it saves time.

Put four people in a car, the savings drops to $3.50 (not figuring in gas money).

I go to Dodger Stadium a lot.

I cannot stress enough how this project is not designed to reduce the number of drivers headed to Dodger Stadium. Any reduction in traffic congestion would be minor.

That being said, I want public transit options. I want clean transportation. I want to live in the future.

This particular project just doesn’t live up to the hype.

But hey, if it doesn’t impact the environment or public finances, build it. Go for broke.
