Being pro-Soviet in the 1930s was naive beyond reason. Being pro-Soviet in the late 1940s was unconscionable. Being pro-Soviet in 2014...to be honest, I'm not even sure there's a word for *that*.
Let's be quite straightforward. NATO was not set up to threaten the Soviet Empire. It was set up to defend Europe from the Soviet Empire, which had already taken over 1/2 of Europe. But if it *had* been set up to threaten the Soviet Empire, that wld hv clearly been a Good Thing!
How could anyone, in good conscience & all seriousness, suggest in 2014 that if an organisation had been set up in the late 1940s to threaten the Soviet Empire, that could have been anything other than an excellent, moral, virtally morally mandatory idea?
So much that Corbyn says is historically or factually wrong that it distracts us from the fact that, even if his "facts" were right, he'd almost invariably still be on the wrong side - & not just the a bit wrong side; the wrong Wrong WRONG side.
Even so, Corbyn's image of the late 1940s USSR as a plucky little country, seeking to mind its own business, keep out of others' way & promote the welfare of its citizens, whilst those nasty NATO bullies got together to try to force the Cold War upon it is...quite something...
