I have been quiet of late, much thinking though. I have awoken from my dormant state by news that #BabyLossAwareness week will be marked with a documentary
I have very, very mixed feelings about this. I have seen the comments from participants urging critics to wait and see and not believe the 'media hype' about the film.
I have no doubt of the sincerity of these pleas. I find it difficult though to support a film based on highly questionable ethics no matter the aim it hopes to achieve.
The end does not justify the means. There is already plenty of wholesome, consensual awareness raising activities going on before and after this documentary.

As a cancer researcher & science communicator, I have very mixed feelings on proposed #alcohol cancer labelling for drinks. I'll try here to elucidate why, and you can tell me whether you agree or not (1/n)
...so firstly, is alcohol a carcinogen? Almost undoubtedly, yes. IARC grade it a class 1 carcinogen, alongside asbestos, ionizing radiation, & smoking. We even know some mechanisms of damage. So labels should be a no-brainer, right? (2/n)
...well not quite. The real question isn't just whether something causes cancer (oxygen, processed meat, and sunlight are also Class 1 carcinogens for example) but how much it increases our risk of getting cancer. We need both bits of information to make a call (3/n)

Week 2 CFB. Gonna go down the rotation and talk ACC and SEC:

GT @ USF (+3.5/63) Color me surprised by side and total here. Expected USF to be slight chalk but hasn't been the case. Total feels about a TD too high to me here but this is a very high variance game, IMO.
Not much to be gleaned from either team's Week 1 games against Elon and Alcorn State. I'll start with GT, I think they could be a candidate for improvement this year. I think the big upgrade was getting rid of Roof at DC and hiring Woody. Simplifying things is usually good.
Didnt' see GT week one but appears they are still trying to get Marshall to throw more and he's still throwing like the A-Back he played prior to QB. Earlier this week USF LB was asked about GT and he said, "Navy with athletes". Last time they played Navy, 52-45 win in 2016.

I have VERY mixed feelings about this OpEd. The 25th Amendment cannot be enacted without the complete cooperation of Trump's self appointed Cabinet. So, it's a non starter, NOT a Constitutional Crisis--the 25th is PART of the Constitution. Read this.

2/Let me be clear, my issue is not w the NYT for publishing this, they got the info out, & there are parallels bet Deep Throat & whomever this 'whistleblower' might be. WHY aren't they taking a stand w Congress @ this? They owe US, not themselves. My feeling is that this is @
3/not losing their jobs, or being power junkies. It isn't their responsibility to have a "2 track presidency", it's their responsibility to be transparent as hell with the US Citizenry. Period. Whoever this is, they need to now take a courageous and very public stand.
