If the ERG proposals would be published, then the choice becomes ERG vs Chequers. Since ERG proposals are very likely going to violate the Good Friday Agreement and won't maintain health, safety standards and consumer protections Labour would vote it down 2/
And that would again leave the choice between chequers or no deal. Given how apocalyptic no deal would be, it is likely that Labour MPs would be able to provide the majority for May's chequers proposal even though it would fail Starmer's tests 3/
That's why it's so crucial for May that there is no second referendum.
A second referendum would spell havoc for her plan, create deep rifts in her party. Especially given how big the lead for Remain is now, it's not in the government's interest to have a #PeoplesVote /ends
