EU27 help on #Chequers deal would at least give May a plan to put to Parliament, which is why Baker out reminding her she doesn't have the numbers. Chequers will live or die in HoC - & the question is can she move enough of her own MPs & Labour MPs to face down her Brexiteers

DUP abstains. DUP source; this was designed to be a warning shot. ‘Weren’t trying to hurt govt but to show them that we won’t necessarily follow them through the voting lobby’
DUP met with the chief whip today. Told the meeting was frank and @JulianSmithUK left in no doubt that DUP requires the PM to keep promises made for NI in order for them to keep theirs
And..... on the matter of voting down the Budget & withdrawing from confidence & supply deal, DUP source suggests that PM ‘could go because she can’t hold together her govt, and someone else could take over’ >> that’s pretty, er, punchy.

NEW: No-deal roaming charges. Govt confirms my story that surcharge-free roaming "cannot be guaranteed" in the event of a no-deal Brexit. Govt also (as I reported) says it will legislate to apply limits if necessary. Notes some operators "no current plans" to change approach
And.... While govt keen to stress companies covering 85% of consumers say have "no current plans" to reintroduce roaming charges, that is very different from current EU's legal protection, aka 'Roam Like at Home'. And 15% consumers NOT covered in that pledge (a lot of phones)
NO DEAL DRIVING: You'll need an international permit to drive in EU. AA bemoans "extra burden" & says it's disappointed these permits can only be issued at Post Offices. Cost = £5.50. Queue times? NAO said PO's might have to issue up to 7m of these permits in first year... urgh

Here's a tldr THREAD
The story centres around a power couple in Brexit politics, Matthew and Sarah Elliott. Matthew was chief of Vote Leave and still has fingers in lots of Brexit pies. Sarah is chair of Republicans overseas, and used to work for fossil fuel magnates the Koch brothers.
In the US, the couple have strong ties to the #Kochtopus network and libertarian Trump-funder Robert Mercer. In the UK, they have strong ties to the remnants of the Leave campaign, and a network of groups lobbying for mass deregulation post-Brexit based out of #TuftonStreet

1) In 2015 Cameron went to EU for reform.
I said, if he returns with something tangible, I'd support his choice on EURef (Remain, turns out).
EU sent him home with his tail between his legs & made me a hardened #Brexit supporter, when I saw them humiliate him.
2) Cameron was a giant amongst mere clowns, but they still disrespected him.
He stands above every one of them, as the leader who steered his nation best through the choppy waters of the 2008 economic crash.
They had no RIGHT to humiliate the man.
3) Ever since then, EU has been arrogant & constantly felt entitled to humliliate our PM.
I've gone from being willing to listen & possibly Remain, to wanting out on whatever terms necessary.
WTO is my benchmark, I'll accept a reasonable deal, but no half-way measures at all.

They've been complaining for months from the sidelines that Brexit isn't being don't properly

But after all this time, they have *no* alternative "proper Brexit plan"

1. According to City AM, David Davis is being lined up to author a foreword to a 140-page "Alternative #Brexit Plan", due to be published later this month and which will make the case for a Canada-style trade deal, with improved provisions on areas such as services and security.
2. The comprehensive proposal is being coordinated by "trade expert" Shanker Singham of the Institute of Economic Affairs, in collaboration with at least one other think tank and a leading City law firm.
3. Right now I can only speculate but any plan ha to address the issue of standards and regulatory alignment. It won't go as far as a "common rulebook" because that phrase is politically toxic. They will duck the issue.
